This morning began with something that made me really happy; Maiko-san replied to my e-mail, something she's never done before, although she's always read them. When I left she told me to write her loads, and so I wrote her an email, and she actually responded. So that made me really happy. The only thing is, right now that happiness is fading quickly, because well, I'm alone, noone else is up, and I have so much time on my hands right now. And Ive realized too much time is like quicksand right now. I'm sinking in it, suffocating, unable to move forward, unable to do anything. I need to write an e-mail to Hank, to open negotiations about February, but I just can't right now. And my mind is weighed down by little things, silly things, how last night I stayed up to talk to Em after she got off the phone with N, but when she came back somehow she seemed more distant, not joining in in our old conversation as much as before, falling asleep pretty quickly, and once again the old fears come back, that something has changed, that she's changed, that our relationships changed. Which on some level is ridiculous, I mean sisters relationships don't really change, not on the deeper level, but...but there are still things that could change and that scares me with a deep empty kind of pain. Yesterday Dad made some comment, half-laughing, about how I didn't want to be with my family, about how I didn't want to come home and be with my family. He was just teasing, but it was one of those comments he sometimes makes that just stings, and makes me wonder how he can really be a psychologist, not to realize that it hits a nerve. Because I wanted to lash out at him, to say, 'Don't you understand? That's the only reason I'm here! I came home to be with my family, and my friends! That's the one thing that made me come home!' But I didn't. I just didn't have enough energy. God I hope the day brings some improvements. Even just some more time with Em, because I need to make sure of where we are now.
